Description of service
I had professional teeth whitening done by a cosmetic dentist. The dentist made trays of my teeth and supplied me with whitening gel. I had to wait a few days for the trays to be made so the procedure required two trips to the office. I used the trays once a day for a period of two weeks. There was also supposed to be a follow-up visit but I canceled the appointment since it seemed unnecessary.
Review of Service
I chose the trays over the in-office two hour treatment because I wanted to control how white my teeth got. I didn't want to end up with scary white Hollywood teeth but something that looks more natural. I was also concerned that the American Dental Association has only approved the trays, not the in-office laser procedure. I ended up disappointed. My teeth were only whitened by a couple of shades and I didn't think it was worth the cost. However, I still have the trays and may try them again in the future as additional whitening gel can be purchased separately.
Tips
Be realistic about your expectations. If you have sensitive teeth, you may want to use a toothpaste specifically for sensitive teeth in advance of and during the whitening procedure.
