Description of service
The teeth whitening procedure was performed at my local dentist in a 2 hour period, including wait time. The entire process took place with the dentist I usually visit doing the whitening. The cost was roughly $200 for the procedure, which needs to be repeated every 4 months or when needed. The service started with a "primer" gel that was applied after a thorough cleaning. Then the whitening gel was applied and a laser was moved in front of my mouth for a period of time. The gel was then washed off and the process was repeated once more.
Review of Service
The service was wonderful, and I felt that the dentist was the best person to have this procedure done. For the price, it was very much worth it, because I know that my teeth whitening was performed professionally and it was a good feeling to know that this only needs to be done three times a year because of the effectiveness of the treatment. This process whitened my teeth by 6 shades, which was showed to me by my dentist on a whiteness scale. Though processes may differ, the technique used by the dentist was applying multiple gels to effectively whiten my teeth while protecting my gums. The dentist provided me with all the information I needed to know about teeth whitening, such as the effects on the teeth sensitivity, what foods have the most effect on teeth coloration, etc. I feel that professional treatments, like one at the dentist, are the best method because the person administering the whitening procedure is the most knowledgeable about how to keep teeth their whitest.
Tips
The best tip I have for anyone is to evaluate your feelings about dentist visits. If you are nervous the moment you step foot into the dentist's office, you may want to skip this procedure and go with over-the-counter products to whiten your teeth. However, if you are looking for a very effective treatment, this is truly the best option.
Another tip I would offer is to find a dentist or specialist who you feel comfortable with, or maybe one that you have been with for a while. That way, the dentist will know what kind of dental history you have had and whether you have had fillings or bridges which will play a role in how the dentist goes about whitening your teeth. Also, the fact that you have been to a certain dentist for a while may help ease your nerves when you are in the dentist's chair.
Treatments differ, and it is important to talk to your dentist or dental specialist before you attempt this procedure.
