the Price of Web Site Hosting

I needed to have a domain name registered for my web site. I saw this promotion from an Internet company based in Sunnyvale, California offering domain name registration for only $0.99 for the first year and $9.99 for the succeeding year.

Note that the domain name registration fee is different from the actual web hosting.

I was hesitant at first to provide my credit card details in the Internet but since they are pretty popular, I went ahead and took the plunge. So far, no credit card fraud activity in my account.

Well, regarding the actual service, it's pretty great!!! It was fairly easy to change the registration details of my domain name (which can be seen publicly via WHOIS).

They also have a HUGE knowledgebase, just by reading it you can easily understand on how to set things up. But if you are lazy, they also have a toll-free number you can call and ask for assistance. I never bother calling since I don't want to be put on hold for a while and I also know pretty much what I'm doing.

Regarding spam, there was no spam whatsoever in my registered email which is great!

Choose a company that is reputable and also have a great technical support. If possible, make sure that they have a huge knowledgebase so that you can help yourself. I was lucky to have registered my domain name in that company. Even if the recurring charge is $9.99 per year, I won't be changing my domain name registrar since their service is excellent.
