Description of service
The service I received was hair extensions. The entire service took about 3-4 hours in total because I was having a lot of work done. First, I received a hair trim which took all of 20 minutes. Next, the hair stylist had to sew in tracks into my hair. I had a total of 5 tracks (Tracks are where the stylist sews the hair extension to your hair). This part was a little painful at times and a bit uncomfortable just because there is a lot of pulling on small strands of hair and the stylist want to put the tracks in tight so they extensions can look better for longer and last longer. This took about an hour total. Next, the stylist matched the extensions width to the width of the tracks. She then sewed the extensions to the tracks. This part took about 2 hours. After the extensions were in, she cut and styled the extensions with my hair so the extensions looked natural.
The hair extensions itself cost about $150 and then you're paying the other $200 or so for the service of the stylist and the hair color that they use to color the extensions to match your hair color. And then you want to consider tipping your therapist according to how well they did.
Another cost to consider is taking out the extensions when your hair starts to grow out and you can see where the extensions have been put in. You want a professional to take them out for you. This will cost about $20-$50 depending on who you go to. Preferable go to the girl who did the hair extensions for you.
Review of Service
I absolutely loved getting hair extensions. I was sad when I had to take them out. I could tell that the hair she used was good quality hair. Bad quality hair gets matted really easily and feels like horse hair after about 2 washes. Make sure your stylist is using extremely good quality extensions. What was good about the service I got was that my stylist knew what she was doing and told me that if I had any questions or concerns about my extensions, that I should call her and she'd tell me what to do. The worst part about the whole experience was probably just the fact that the extensions feel really heavy on your head at first. The first night was hard sleeping because the weight of your head against your pillow pulls on the extensions. You have to wait for them to loosen up but once they do, you just love them! I think that the service was definitely good for the price I paid. If you're paying over $500, then you're probably paying too much and you can find someone else to do it for you for a better price. Try find smaller salon businesses. They tend to offer the best prices.
Tips
Make sure that your stylist knows how to do extensions and has had a lot of experience. Also, make sure the hair you're getting in is the best available. Even if you have to pay a little bit extra for it, It's worth it. When you get you're hair taken out, KEEP IT! You can reuse it and get a discount on the next time you want them in. Your extensions can last up to 3 month and if you want to redo them, just reuse the hair that was previously put in. Even if you want to wait a while to do it again, hold on to that hair. And when you do take your hair out, at first it feels like you've had massive hair loss! This is normal. You're used to having 2 times the volume of hair. You're not going bald, you're just adjusting to your normal volume again.
