Description of service
I received 100% natural human hair extensions to enhance my wedding day hair look. At my hair salon I was required to pay the full $150 cost to order the hair extensions ($110) and the fee for hair stylist ($40). The extensions were 18" long and had a wavy texture that complimented my existing texture. The extensions came in eighth inch wide sections that were adhered together with a keratin protein. The protein is a naturally occurring protein in human hair that is not as damaging as other hair glues. The hair stylist placed each section of hair near my hair root and used a special heat gun to melt the glue into my hair. She let it dry and made sure that the extension was secure as well as left a wide section of hair around my hairline to make sure that extensions did not show through. After about 3 hours she finished the extensions, trimmed up the uneven ends and it looked lovely.
Review of Service
I felt that the quality of service I received was wonderful. I've never done anything more drastic than hair color, so this was a pleasant surprise that the extensions worked out so well. My hair stylist made sure to explain each step and answered all my questions and concerns. These included how long the extensions would last, proper hair care and the like. The only thing I did not like about the product was that the extension packs did not come with a mixture of hair color to service those that have more color variation in their natural hair. Compared with other salons in the area that provided the same extensions, this salon was far less expensive than all the others and the results were the same, in some cases hundreds of dollars less.
Tips
I would advise that anyone seeking extension research the type they want (weave, keratin, natural or synthetic, etc...), have a serious conversation with their hair stylist to flesh out the process and answer any questions they might have because once their in it is an expensive and time consuming process to remove. Also, make sure to use the restroom and eat before starting as this can be a several hour long process.
The the only thing I did not like about the service was the final color of the hair in the sunlight. My hair is a mixture of black and very dark brown that was not as apparent until the all black extensions were in place in the sun. I had to come back a different day to get a few dark brown extensions put in to blend better.
