Description of service
Hair extensions are made up of either real or synthetic hair that are fused, glued or otherwise temporarily affixed close to the scalp. If properly applied by a professional hair stylist or extensionist, they may last up to 3 months before requiring any attention.
There are 4 methods:
1) Clip-on hair extensions, which are a temporary solution, and their price reflects that. Hair Replacement Centers offer clip-ons from $19.50 to $269 for a kit.
2) Hot Fusion or Bonding, where extensions are hot glued to your natural hair. This is the traditional method, and it costs around $300.
3) Cold Fusion, which is a new technology that is meant to be gentle on the hair. It costs from $1,500 to $3,500.
4) Weave method, where hair extensions are braided into the natural hair. This method costs around $1,200.
Review of Service
I wanted to put 2-3 highlights to my natural hair, so I decided to put some extensions instead of apply a chemical colour on my hair. I decided to use the Hot Fusion method, where extensions were hot glued to my natural hair. The service was great and the most important the man who put these extensions on my hair was a professional!
Tips
The stylist should analyze your hair to make sure your hair is in a condition for successful hair extensions.
Ask about the training and experience of your stylist.
Make sure you are well informed about the method and hair quality that will be used for your extensions.
Ask how long the hair extensions will last and how much it will cost to remove them.
Ask if the hair can be used again.
Make sure to get a written estimate for your hair extensions.
A good general rule is that hair extensions should not be longer than twice your own hair length.
