Description of service
The class met on Wednesdays for 1 month (4 classes). The instructor first showed us the fundamentals (as easy as baking the cake and making the icing) to actually icing the base 2 layer cake. Then she also showed us how to use various tips, make flowers, use different icing types (the kinds that get really hard for making flowers, etc).
Review of Service
The service was awesome. The instructor knew a lot. She teaches not only the first beginner class, but also the fondant class, flower class, and cupcake decorating class. There was even a girl who took these classes somewhere else who switched to our class for the better instructor.
Everyone loved the class and learned a lot. There was everyone from stay at home moms, to working girls, to high school girls. There was even a dad who brought in a little daughter who wanted to learn!
Tips
There are many decorating classes available. You can build on your skills and even become really good and do wedding cakes. The supplies end up costing the most of all, because you buy many sizes of pans, decorator bags, tips, fondant icing, clear frosting flavorings, cardboard to put the cake on, etc. The actual class is inexpensive in comparison to all the things you buy! I would recommend trying to buy some things secondhand, (as long as it is a complete set of all the tools you will need). You can probably save a good amount that way. Also, there are usually coupons that the stores put out for purchasing craft supplies and for taking their classes. The supply coupons are usually get 40% off of an item, which is a huge savings, especially when you are always needing additional materials.
