Description of service
I paid for a living will to be drawn up. I went to a free consultation with an attorney to find out about wills and the need for a will. I wasn't really sure if I needed one or not, and I had not considered a living will. The consultation was at the attorneys office and lasted about 45 minutes. He asked me about my family, my living situation,my retirement plans, the size of my "estate", about life insurance coverage, about my health and then made some suggestions. He pointed out the need for a living will and gave me the information. I agreed that was a very good suggestion and hired him to make the living will. There was no pressure to buy at all, just solid information and good suggestions.
Review of Service
I thought the service was excellent. The attorney seemed to know the right questions to ask to determine what my needs really were. He could have just made me a will, rather than educate me about the benefit of a living will. I thought that was exceptional service. The office was nice, but not fancy. The staff person was professional and the attorney was like an attorney should be, neat, professional, and knowledgeable without being too "stuffy".
Tips
Call around and see who offers a free consultation, I didn't find to many office that do this, but it saved me a lot of money. Find someone you are comfortable with and who listens to what you are saying. Don't be shy about saying no if you feel pressured to buy after a free consultation. If you don't want to say no, say you are going to get another opinion and will call them back.
