I needed to obtain a lawyer for follow-up on child visitation. I met with my lawyer on three separate occasions to discuss my expectation from the court hearing. My only payment was for $1000. We had scheduled two since court appearances due to missing visits. I was not charged for additional services.
Review of Service
My lawyer was extremely helpful in what to ask for. He provided me with peace of mind when having to provide visitation that I did not want to. He recommended I keep a running log of late arrivals, early dismissals, and no shows. This was helpful to me because my ex was tying up every Sunday afternoon with missed or half visits. My lawyer has been practicing law for 30 years and his experience shows.
Tips
I would advise someone who is looking for a good lawyer to look at their past experience. I'm not saying someone out of school isn't good but I tend to lean towards validated experience. When you are first interviewing your lawyer make sure they understand what you are looking for and that they are looking for the same. if you are not comfortable with your interview maybe you should look elsewhere for a lawyer more suited to your tastes.
