Description of service
This is the weekly price charged for my 10 year old son to have lessons with a native (French Canadian) speaker. This was in a small group type atmosphere (7 students at a time). If my other son had participated, I would have been eligible for a $10 per week credit.
Review of Service
The instructor of this class offered children's classes on Thursdays, teens on Tuesdays and adults by special arrangement. The classes for the children were an hour and a half a week, with 30 minutes devoted to reviewing, 15 minutes to learning new vocabulary, 15 minutes to oral reading and 30 minutes to oral conversation. They were especially excited about the beginning reader type textbooks written for native French speakers.
Tips
No matter what language you would like to expose your children to (or learn yourself), if you think there aren't any native speakers around, check with your local college. In our case, this young lady had family who worked at the college. She was gaining valuable tutoring/teaching experience as well as earning extra money. We came out ahead (in our opinion) because our child learned from a native speaker. Although he may not have heard it spoken as it would have been spoken in Paris, he still got a lot closer than someone native to the south would have sounded.
