the Price of French Lessons

I signed up and paid for a 12 month online French class. The cost for the entire year and all materials was $1200.

I have a busy and changing schedule that doesn't allow time for a dedicated class. I'd tried doing languages on tape before but never knew if I was really doing it right without someone there to listen to and correct my speech.

So when I found an online class, I thought it would be perfect. There were weekly goals to be met which include one voice clip that must be e-mailed to the instructor. You also had the option to call a special 1-800 number to leave your recording that way if you didn't have access to a microphone. The idea was that the instructor would listen to your recording and then record a correction that was e-mailed back to you.

I thought this was a great and innovative idea. Unfortunately, the whole thing was a mess and a scam.

In total I recorded 5 voice clips for the instructor. I was told on everyone that I had made no errors and everything sounded good. I find this highly unlikely, as I was a beginner. I gave up after 5 weeks and fought with the company for 6 months trying to take advantage of the money back guarantee. I never got a penny back.

Beware of online places like this. There are legit places out there, just be sure you do your research on the companies before you spend your money.
