Description of service
We hired an interior designer to re-vamp our window treatments. The rate of $3500 include her hourly fee and materials.
Review of Service
We talked to friends who used interior decorators and found this woman through them. She is an independent, not affiliated with any particular store. We really liked her, even though she seemed a bit stuffy at times. She came for an initial consultation, discussed her hourly fees ($150 per hour) and then she took a tour of our home. We decided together what we should do to improve our window treatments. We had built our home about ten years ago and just wanted to update what we had in the living and dining rooms, kitchen and office. The kitchen and office were not that big (in terms of windows) and the living and dining areas have two story windows so we just wanted to accent them. We were happy with the service and price. She did a good job - very professional and prompt.
Tips
Get recommendations. Ask the person you are interviewing to provide references from happy clients. Going through a store is not a bad idea and we would have done that if we did not have such great recommendations about our decorator, from our friends.
