Description of service
My mother-in-law recently inherited a bunch of antiques. She wanted to display as many as possible, but didn't know how to incorporate it with her present furnishings. I paid for her to have an interior decorator come out and incorporate her antiques with her current furnishings so she could show them off during holiday season.
Review of Service
We told the decorator before she arrived that we would not be adding anything aside from what we already had. Her task was to incorporate both the antiques and the present furnishings, without us having to buy anything else. She was given free reign to get furnishings from elsewhere in the home to make the living room look the best. Considering the restraints she was given, the work turned out terrific! There were lots of "ooohs" and "ahhhs" at Thanksgiving and Christmas.
Tips
Think outside the box when looking for interior designers. People just starting out or a friend of a friend with a child in an interior design school both work fine for getting affordable, nice work.
Some designers want to be able to sell you additional items (interior designers have a wealth of items that they alone can sell), but you do not have to agree to it. Yes, we probably would've had an even nicer experience had we utilized this, but we just couldn't afford it.
