Description of service
I am paying $60 per hour for therapy. When I started going to this particular therapist, she was an intern, so her rates were low. She is now fully licensed but still gives me the same price since I've been with her for a while and am making less money than I used to!
This therapist had a supervisor, but the supervisor was never present at my sessions. Instead, my therapist reported to her supervisor every week, and updated her as to what we discussed. Then she would bring back any suggestions that her supervisor had.
She no longer reports to a supervisor.
Review of Service
This therapist is very good. I always forgot that she was an intern because she had so much insight into everything. She has some very good suggestions for things that I am going through, and I've always felt like the hour I spent was productive.
In addition, I take public transportation to my appointments so that I can beat the traffic, and sometimes the train is late. The therapist is really understanding and gives me the extra time at the end when she can.
I also really appreciate that the therapist is still willing to give me a lower price because she is taking my income into consideration.
Tips
Obviously, therapy is very personal. If for any reason you don't feel comfortable with a particular therapist, you should choose a new therapist. You won't see much progress if you are not comfortable opening up to the therapist. Many therapists will give you one free session to see if it is a good fit.
