Description of service
I suffered from a retinal tear in one eye. If the retina is completely detached a person will become blind. This can be fixed by laser surgery. Done in the office, treatment is almost painless and it takes about 10 minutes.
Review of Service
This surgery required no pre-op preparations. Upon arrival at doctor's office, drops were instilled in the eye both for numbness and for dilatation of the pupil. Length of pre-op was approximately 20 minutes. Actual surgery about 10 minutes. Nurses and doctor were sensitive and caring. The surgery itself was almost painless and I needed no post-op care at all. A follow-up visit to the doctor is required in most cases to see if the tear has been completely sealed. I am very satisfied with the care I received from my doctors and office staff.
Tips
If you suffer from myopia or had cataract surgery in the past, it is not uncommon to have eye problems that require a visit to your opthalmologist. If you notice any symptoms, i.e. halos, flashes of light, pain, loss of vision, sudden blurriness, double vision or distortion of vision, go to your opthalmologist immediately because you could have a retinal tear. In most cases this is fixable thru laser surgery.
