Description of service
Surgery to have a lazy eye corrected and to also tighten the muscles in the opposite eye so that the eyes would be looking at the same thing at the same time.
Review of Service
The surgery was conducted on an outpatient basis and was started at 10 am. It was finished by noon. Surgeon was quick and efficient but lacked any social skills whatsoever. After surgery was performed was sent home with supplies and instructions for care for the eyes. Patient was comfortable and experienced no pain, just a mild soreness that was easily taken care of with OTC medication. Aftercare, could have been better. Due to the lack of social skills by surgeon and the inability to have more than 10 minutes for post operative check ups, the fact the stitches had become loose was missed and now the surgery needs to be redone in both eyes.
Tips
Make sure when having corrective eye surgery of any kind, to insist that there is a thurough post operative examination. Also make sure that if you have problems being vocal with opinions, that you bring someone to be an advocate for you so you are not run over in the aftercare. This could save you the cost of having to have the surgery redone at a later date, which can be quite an inconvenience.
