Description of service
Amblyopia, commonly known as lazy eye, is the eye condition noted by reduced vision not correctable by glasses or contact lenses and is not due to any eye disease. The brain, for some reason, does not fully acknowledge the images seen by the amblyopic eye and my son was one of the unlucky ones to have it. I get to know this when my kid was diagnosed by a doctor in the school and they informed me about the condition. I immediately took him to the eye specialist and got dates for the surgery. The cost has the ansthesia charges ($1400) as he was given general anesthesia and operation and medicine charges ($2200) and doctor fees ($1500).
Review of Service
The operation went successful and i was the happiest person that day. The doctor was good and now my kid is normal and has normal vision like other kids. Also because of the new and innovative way that this procedure is done, the recovery time is reduced tremendously from 2 plus weeks to right at one week. Follow ups are regular since then. The cost i think is nothing seeing my kid got his vision back.
Tips
Since amblyopia usually occurs in one eye only, many parents and children are unaware of the condition. Many children go undiagnosed until they have their eyes examined at the eye doctor's office at a later age. So Comprehensive vision evaluations are highly recommended for infants and pre-school children.
