Description of service
I had laser eye surgery on both eyes. My prescription was fairly strong and glasses and contacts became very ineffective. I was self conscious about the way that I looked in glasses and contacts made my eyes red, itchy, and dry. They did several painless tests on my eyes to gather the information needed to perform the surgery. The surgery itself was non-invasive and took less than 15 minutes and the procedure was a little uncomfortable but virtually painless. My friends and family were able to stand right outside the room and watch on a television monitor that was magnified. They all assured me this was very interesting. The doctor instructed me to go home and rest. I had to use eye drops for 3 weeks, but my vision was 20/20. Six months later, I had to go back for a touch up on my left eye as it was worse than my right and they wanted to make sure they got it perfect. The doctor informed me I may need a touch up in the distant future. I also may need to use reading glasses like every one does when they age. The $4000 included all materials needed such as eye drops, one touch up surgery, pain/relaxation medications, eye shields, sunglasses, a coffee cup , and the surgery itself.
Review of Service
The quality of service I received was very impressive. There were two different centers that I needed to visit for the tests and surgery. One was the preparation center and one was the surgery center. Each facility treated my very nice. They were all very informed and answered any questions and concerns I had to assure me that I was making the proper decision. The doctor that performed the surgery was very friendly and took a picture with me (giving a thumbs up) after the surgery. I feel the quality of service was a good value for the money. Especially, with the economy being the way it has been, I felt they really fought for my business by giving me a competitive price. I had decided to decline the surgery but after two weeks they called me back and offered the surgery at a lower price. I had to accept. The only bad thing that I can think of were that the surgeries were only performed on certain days and they were booked a month ahead. I lived about an hour from the actual surgery center and had to have a friend drive me to and from the surgery. Other than those few things, there were not any negative experiences I had involving Laser eye surgery.
Tips
Some advice I have for someone deciding if laser eye surgery is for them; make sure they really need it. Because of the cost, make sure you have tried all types of glasses and contacts first, Although, the price will pay for itself after a period of time. Secondly, shop around, as this is a pretty common practice these days. Keep your schedule open and write down any questions ahead of time with a partner to address all concerns. Make sure you have a ride to and from the surgery. I was very informed and had been looking into this for years.
