Description of service
I hired a local moving company to move my furniture from one apartment to another. All done locally at a price of $75.00 dollars per hour. There is usually an extra charge if you request more than the typical 2 male movers used for the job, and moving to a floor higher than the first floor carries an extra charge with certain companys.
Review of Service
I found the moving company in my local yellow pages, and after calling several companys I found some movers that were available on my moving day. I called the movers to set up my date and time, and they called me the day before to confirm my move.
On the day of my move, the movers arrived on time and after going over some paperwork, that took about 10 minutes, they began the time clock, and started my move.
The movers worked quickly, and were very careful not to damage my furniture. they usually won't stop for a break at the same time, if one mover stopped for a drink or cigarette break, the other mover was still working.
They loaded my furniture onto the truck and followed me to my new home. they unloaded my furniture just a quickly and they even placed each item into the room I requested. After they were done, they rounded my time to the nearest hour.
All in all it was a good experience.
Tips
When shopping for movers, call several companys for price comparison. Dont forget to ask about extra charges for second and third floor apartments, and about the damage insurance, the insurance offered only covers 60 cent per pound for any damaged item, so if your T.V. cost $300.00, but only weighs 100 pounds, you will end up claiming less than $100.00, so if your furniture is expensive, paying for the better insurance is always an option they will give you.
