the Cost of Local Movers

We bought a new house so we hired a moving company to move all our stuff from the apartment to our new home. We had called several moving companies and decided to go with the cheapest service but best service we could get.

Moving companies here in Cordova, TN usually sends 2 men but another reason we chose this company is because they send 3 men to move that means the more people the faster it will be.

Moving companies usually starts charging you from the time they leave their office to the time they go back from moving you. But this particular moving company, they only start charging by time they start doing the job. Plus they also send 3 men which made the moving faster thus making it cheaper than what it would have been if there were only 2 men.

We were hoping to only use the 4 hour minimum charge but it took them 6 hours to move all our stuff. 5 Hours moving and an hour for their lunch break but we didnt have to pay for that 1 hour break they had. It was $115 per hour plus $50 service charge. They also charged us .50 per $100 carrier liability which was ok.

The movers were very professional and fast. Another thing that we liked from this moving company is that thier movers are very careful with our things too. This is very important because we want all our stuff to be intact and in the same condition before they were moved. And ofcourse, being fast is very important since we dont want to be paying a lot because of slow movers.

Call several moving companys and compare prices and services they offer. Dont hesitate to ask for discounts or promo's they might be offering. Also, dont forget to ask if they have additional charges for heavier furnitures or items. Sometimes, some moving company will give you additional charges for an appliance or item that is just a little bigger but not necessarily heavy.

If you have safes, like we did, also ask if they will charge more for that. On our case, they didnt charge us for it. They said it'll be free which was good. Another tip, ask about the truck, some charges some doesnt.

Be very careful in choosing which moving company you will use to move your stuff. Double check the price and service they offer especially because you are trusting them with your things.
