the Price of Couples Therapy

I had approx 6 months of marriage counseling with my husband. We paid $15.00 per 1-hour session because our insurance covered most of the cost. If we did not have insurance, our counselor charges $120.00 per 1-hour session. During our session, we discussed how to communicate in a healthy manner and how to respect the other person’s space.

I felt that she did a great job counseling my husband and myself. It really helped us connect as a couple. I think every couple has rough patches and I think that seeking a marriage counselor to help get you through those rough patches is a great thing. Having an unbiased third party to listen and give you the tools that your relationship needs to get through life’s issues is a very valuable thing to have.

The best tip I can give to find a good counselor is to actually see a few of them for an introductory session. This way it is easier for you as a couple to find the best person that will be helping you with the issues in your relationships. Also before beginning counseling my advise is to talk with your partner and discuses what you are both looking for in a councilor such as if you are more comfortable with a male or female or wither or not you want religious counseling or not.
