Description of service

My wife and I paid $60 per session for couples therapy sessions in Pasadena, CA. The sessions were 50 minutes long and we negotiated to pay this price for each of our 3 sessions.

Review of Service

What we paid for this service was a great value. The counselor that we did our therapy sessions with was the same counselor that we had for our pre-marital counseling years before. We wanted to do a few sessions with her having been married for a few years now just to check in for 3 sessions. The price for the service at only $60 was well below what she normally earned. But since we had worked with her before and because we had a difficult financial situation at the time, she was willing to work with us. And because we had a history with her and a level of comfortability, the quality of the counseling was extremely high and was very beneficial to our marriage and well worth the money spent.

Tips

When seeking couples therapy, something that was very important to us is that both parties of the couple feel comfortable with the counselor. If you don't find that with the first counselor, keep looking until you find a counselor both people feel comfortable with. Also, many therapists will negotiate their price. They do realize that what they charge can be too high for some and so they are willing to negotiate. Our counselor was willing to negotiate with us and it was a huge gift to us in our situation.
