Description of service
Found a babysitter through the classifieds for my little sister. It was a college student who was going to school to work with young pre-school children. I thought the price was a little steep at first but since it was short notice on a Friday night I decided to give it a whirl.
Review of Service
At first I thought $15 per hour was a little high for a babysitter. I guess since I haven't babysat in so long I didn't really think that the price had gone up that much. I can remember getting paid 5-6 dollars an hour babysitting as a teen, and that was just 5-6 years ago. But I was really in a bind so I went for it. She turned out to be a super-nice college student who was going to school to work with pre-school kids so she did have some experience under her belt. And she was CPR certified which really just put me at ease and sealed the deal. My sister said that this was the most fun she had ever had.
Tips
Look around for college aged babysitters or if you know a teen or young adult going to school for teaching or something related to that ask them to watch your child. My sister had a lot of fun and the young lady was really hands on with her and they made playdough and she let my sister help her prepare a meal. Getting kids involved is how they learn. It's a lot better than hiring a babysitter who is going to just half watch your child while holding a phone to one ear and staring at the TV all night. You may pay a little more for older, more experienced babysitters but at least you'll be able to enjoy your night out without worrying.
