Description of service
This was for a basic neutering of a young male pug - including the anesthesia, stitches, neutering, and spending one night at the veterinarian's.
Review of Service
Before getting my pug neutered I discussed the risks with my vet. Pugs have a harder time than most dogs when coming out of anesthesia, so I was nervous about that, as well as what my pug's attitude would be after the procedure, particularly weight gain, as it is also a common problem for pugs. My vet reassured me that it was the right thing to do, and I sat up an appointment to have the procedure done. We had to limit his food intake the night before, then drop him off in the morning. At about noon I called to check and see how it went, and the vet told me that my pug was grumpy but fine. I picked him up the next morning, and the vet gave me instructions on how to care for my pug's stitches. All in all it was a good experience, and I got all the information I needed on how to care for my dog afterwards.
Tips
Call around to check the price at local veterinarian's offices before getting the procedure done. It is surgery, so be sure to choose a vet you trust. Some Humane Societies and animal rescue groups have reduced fee programs you can go to if you qualify.
