Description of service

The service was performed by a bunch of Sunday school kids doing oil changes to raise money for their youth group.

Review of Service

I'm not happy. I just bought the scooter a month ago and I put a ton of miles on it. I figured it was about time to get an oil change and as I was riding to a place to buy some oil I saw a kid with a sign "oil changes for charity." I thought it'd be tough to screw up an oil change and it was only $14 and took about 10 minutes. Seemed alright at the time.

Entirely aside from the fact that they were intent on doing oil changes on cars outside without a lift on a hot, bright summer day in Arizona, they forgot to put the drain plug in correctly. As I rode the 50 feet from the lot where they did the oil change, the plug fell out, all the oil followed, and half a minute later the engine seized.

I went back and told them they'd be paying for the engine rebuild thanks to their idiocy. The denied they'd done anything they should be held responsible for and that it was my own fault for not checking they'd done a good job. I was obliged to call the police to encourage them to own up to their behavior.

Tips

Get it done by an insured professional or do it yourself, that way you have recourse if something goes wrong or you can at least indulge in a little self pity.
