Description of service
The price covered one day's rental of the car ($160) as well as insurance and taxes and miscellaneous fees ($50).
A variety of cars and trucks are available for rent, from $30/day to $300/day depending on the type of car and its popularity. A generic convertible was $80/day.
Review of Service
It was a nice day, convertible weather, and my wife and I played hooky from work and decided to go for a drive on the twisty roads north of the city. But we don't own a convertible. So we rang up a few rental places in the area to see what they had. We were quite delighted that they had a Corvette available. In yellow.
It was all very simple, we drove to the rental place, paid our money, got the car, argued about who would drive which car back to the house, drive back to the house, argue about who gets to drive first, and go for a drive.
The car was in good condition; it was clean and drove well. We had a lot of fun with it. And it was a lot cheaper than buying one that we'd only seldom have time to use.
Tips
Car rental is great. I don't understand why more people don't use it. I see all kinds of people in monster SUVs and pickup trucks and sports cars slogging to work in traffic every day, and I know most of them will rarely use the cars for their specialized purpose. It'd be much easier to buy a cheap or comfortable car for daily driving, and rent a truck or a sports car when you need it or really want it. Maybe it's one of those cheesy status things or maybe I'm just missing something.
