Description of service
A clamp is used to hold your tongue in place and provide a guide for the needle. A large needle is them pierced through your tongue. A temporary piercing is put in place which prevents the hole from closing. This piercing will stay in place for a few weeks after which you can change it to a more customized piercing. After the piercing, you'll have to continually rince your mouth with an antiseptic mouth wash to prevent infection. My tongue was not too bad, but I have seen some people where their tongue became very swollen for a little while after the piercing.
Review of Service
The piercer was very young and she didn't seem too professional. She was joking around a lot and considering she was about to put a needle through my tongue, I wasn't very comfortable. She used gloves to complete the piercing but I didn't see much point since she wiped her nose with the glove. The owner of the shop usually does the piercings and I later found out that the girl was in training. The piercing did come out ok though.
Tips
Find out how long the person has been piercing. Ask to see pictures of their work. If you aren't comfortable with the person doing it, leave and find another place. Make sure you really rinse your mouth with the mouth wash for as long as they tell you too or you'll get a very bad infection and that will be a big problem.
