Description of service
We needed cable set up in three rooms in our home, plus a DVR programmed. We also needed some instructions on how to use the guides and remotes, and have the remotes programmed to our televisions. Even as new customers, we were charged $75 for a set-up fee, plus additional taxes and a $20 "trip charge" since they had to return to our house another day.
Review of Service
Our service was absolutely terrible! We moved into our home a year ago, and when we moved in, we needed to have cable set up. We had previously been satellite customers, and we were very pleased with the service, but a cable company was offering a good deal package for digital cable. What a mistake. I was given a time for installation--a four-hour window which was inconvenient, but not totally unexpected. Fifteen minutes after the four-hour window, I got a phone call from the service technician saying he was running late. I had an appointment in the evening, so I had to reschedule--thus the extra $20 trip charge. When the service tech arrived the next day, he did not bring all of the requested equipment (the dvr). He upgraded us then to a high definition dvr and assured us since it was his mistake there would not be additional charges for the dvr. When I got my first bill, there was an additional monthly charge, and I was told I could return the dvr to a service center, or pay the additional monthly fee.
Tips
Don't always go with the best price. It is true that you get what you pay for, especially with service. The whole ordeal has been frustrating, and I would like to change cable companies because of the headache we dealt with regarding installation. I only fear that it will be another ordeal, and don't want the hassle of switching! Ask a lot of questions, and double-check times of installtion, as well as if there will be additional charges for any equipment the sevice technician installs.
