Description of service
Our local Health Club in town allows guests to come in and take a class or two to try out their facility and services. I think if you have a membership, you are able to take all the classes "for free" - in other words they are included in the monthly fees. I went to a step Aerobics class at the beginner level. There were also people in the class doing a more advanced workout, but it was easy to stick to the basic instructions and keep it manageable for my activity level. The teacher led the class by showing the basic moves just as we got started. This was about a 30 minute class, 15-20 minutes of step aerobics and the rest warm up, cool down and light stretching.
Review of Service
I think this kind of class would really depend on your instructor. The person I had did a very good job of instructing us as to the changes coming up, and she helped us get the rhythm. She was able to help those who were new without making it seem like we were out of shape and ignorant. I really appreciated her diplomacy. The music they used fit the moves very well and made it easier to keep going. It was an energetic and fun routine where you were able to push yourself, but still keep it at your own level. I found it to be a really great work out.
Tips
Ask about introductory offers with the class. I've heard about some places that work it on a punch card if you want to go more regularly and pay as you go. Also, find out which teachers are the best at your location. The teacher is really the key to motivation - at first! Make the commitment with a friend and you will have an easier time sticking with it!
