Review of Service
I had a deviated septum which needed to be fixed because it was causing me some sinus issues. I was also wanting the surgeon to slightly build up the bridge of my nose, as I did not have one. The surgeon was meticulous about answering questions and about pre-operative labs. He spent a lot of time answering questions from my husband and myself. The procedure was performed on an outpatient basis at a medical building rather than a hospital. I was given specific instructions for how to prepare for surgery, and was given a sedative as soon as an IV was started so I could relax some prior to the procedure. The surgery was considered a success, and the doctor was very skilled, however I now have a permanent bump on my nose where the bridge was built up. The doctor and myself were both under the impression the bump would go away with time, but it has been almost two years and it is still there. I am eager to get that fixed, but other than that, the surgery was a success.
Tips
Be prepared for a lot of pain following surgery. For a week afterwards, there will be gauze packing in your sinuses. Another week after that, there will be a removal of splints. It hurts a whole lot for weeks after the procedure, and you will not be able to taste food for the entire time the gauze is packed into your sinuses. Ask a lot of questions, and be prepared just in case the results aren't exactly what you were looking for.
