Sateliite internet service works better with clear skies  more... close row

Description of service

Satelite internet service. Standard high speed access. 1.5 mps makes this service definitely high speed but slower than some of the cable providers in my area. My goal was to consolidate and have multiple services through one provider

Review of Service

I contracted with this company to provide satellite internet access to my new home. I had cable providers in my area as well but elected to go with the satellite service to consolidate my services. The service is a bit more expensive then cable. In some cases you can get cable access for under $30.00 per month. The satellite service i elected for was 1.5 mps. That is very adequate for the type of viewing and web surfing that we do. The installation was free of charge. The need to put a receiver to receive signals directly on you roof. They looked for an area that was unobstructed by trees or other features that might block the signal access. The installation was very orderly and I was up and running in less than an hour. It access the internet in the same way as cable and appears to be as reliable.

Tips

Storms can cause access problems. Remember it's satellite so it really does work better when there is clear skies. I noticed that overcast skies don't affect the systems but strong wind and thunderstorms do cause sporadic disruptions. Doesn't happen very much in my area but it is definitely something that should be known.
