Description of service
Traditional, and by that I mean cable or DSL, internet service is not available in my area. I live in what most people would call "the country" and since I wanted something faster than dial up, I had to go with the high speed internet that my satellite cable company offered. The cost of the service is $60 a month, and it gives me three mega bits per second (or mbps - it's how they measure the internet speed) of unlimited internet access.
Review of Service
Since I have the choice of this, or dial up, I had to go with the faster service. I signed up for a two year contract, so the installation was free but i'm stuck behind a two year contract - which I don't mind since this is the only thing available to me anyway. The service runs perfectly, except for when it rains or snows too hard. The signal to the satellite is blocked by the clouds during storms, so it's unusable at times, but this has only happened twice since I signed up for the service about a year ago.
Tips
If you can, go with cable or dsl it's way cheaper and can be quite faster. But if you're like me and those options aren't available, try asking friends and family what kinds of deals they got, or if they know anyone with satellite internet.
