Description of service
This service gets my parents internet access at their rural home in Hurricane, West Virginia. I pay all of my parents bills, but I pay $69.99 a month from their satellite cable television company. Phone lines are not directed to my parents' house because it is in a very rural area and neither is traditional coaxial cable. The initial installation from the satellite company was $499, which is quite expensive but the only option in this area.
Review of Service
The service is great. My parents get broadband internet and can video chat with my children, their grandchildren, and also use the internet for everyday use. My father likes to play card games online and he does this with no flaw. The only catch is that when it rains heavily the internet is shut down, as is the cable to the internet.
Tips
If you have any other option I would go with that. Satellite internet is very expensive, and is more than triple the price of other broadband options. The price is out of this world compared to dial up internet, which is usually sixty dollars a month cheaper. If you must get satellite internet, call around to the major companies and see who has the best deals.
