the Cost of Skydiving

When we had a free afternoon during a business trip, my colleague and I decided to go skydiving for the first time. The cost of $160 per person included a basic explanation of the process and the equipment, as well as a tandem jump with our instructor. They also offered a videotape of the experience for $35, but I did not purchase that option.

Even though I have seen skydiving on tv and talked to some friends about it, I didn't really have a good understanding of the different aspects such as the way the parachute is packed, the body position as you jump, the landing, and the physical requirements of the activity. My instructor did an excellent and thorough job of explaining of those details and answering questions so that I felt comfortable before we went up in the plane for the jump. I was a little nervous until the parachute opened and I knew we would be safe, and the entire experience was amazing and I hope to go again soon. The price was comparable to other companies, and it was worth the cost to gain a good knowledge of the process and to enjoy my first time jumping from a plane.

Of course call around for the best price, but also make sure that you are comfortable with your instructor and don't be afraid to ask questions so that you understand things for next time and so that you are completely comfortable before going up. Once you are out of the plane, just enjoy the spectacular views and trust your tandem partner.
