the Cost of Temporary Retail Employees

I hired a temporary employee to come into the bookstore I run when I got a large shipment of new books in.

I bought a huge lot of books from an estate sale. They each needed to be scanned in and inventoried. We were in the middle of the Christmas rush and I nor my employees had the time to do it. I hired a person to come in to scan the books in and decide which section of the store they should be in. I intended to have them for a week or so but the experience was so bad I only had them stay for one day. The employee was disinterested and didn't listen to instruction. Each time I checked on them they were not working. They took an extra 15 minutes on lunch. When I called the temporary agency and told them I wanted a different employee or the next day they were rather rude. I ended up just telling them to forget it and paid my own employees overtime to come in before the store opened.

Make sure you know your temporary agencies policies on what happens if you're unhappy with the person they send. Try to get a recommendation from another business owner.
