Description of service
At a chiropractic school, I received chiropractic adjustments for $20 per visit (after signing something saying that I made under a certain amount of money per year).
The initial examination was free, and each session after that cost $20. The work was performed by students in various levels of experience, with the less experienced students being directly supervised, and the more experienced students being indirectly supervised.
Review of Service
Whenever you are receiving services from students, you have to be prepared for things to take longer. Even taking that into account, the initial examination took so long - over 3 hours! The student chiropractor was extremely methodical and slow.
After that, things started getting better. I enjoyed the adjustments performed by my first chiropractic student, who seemed both confident and competent. However, this student graduated a few months after I began to see him, and the second student I had was not up to the same standards.
With the second chiropractic student, i didn't feel like I was in quite as good hands. This was partly because the student was not as experienced, and partly because he just didn't seem to be as much of a "natural."
Given both experiences, I think I would prefer to pay for a professional, because I felt awfully nervous about having a relatively new student twisting my neck! However, the price is great!
Tips
Decide if you're comfortable with a student; if you are, you'll save a lot of money.
Make sure that your chiropractor explains what he or she is doing and takes your comfort level into account!
