Description of service
Recently we had to put my ex mother in law in a assisted living facility at a cost of $700/day. She is also receiving physical therapy. The cost include twenty four hour availability and meals can be eaten in a general dining area. They can also fix their own meals in their small efficiency apartments. The assisted living facility is also attached to a fully assisted home in case the person becomes incapable of doing anything themselves. The efficiencies are very nice and allow the person to have personal items with them. Someone checks on them 3 times a day. They also monitor them at night with an alarm system in case they were to leave.
Review of Service
The cost is very high but Long Term Care is not cheap. This facility is approved by the local hospital and physicians for being one of the best. So far, the service has been good and my ex mother-in-law seems content. They provide both indoor and outdoor activities. They also provide transportation to and from the local mall. One concern is the staff, I am not quite comfortable on some of the aides. When I asked the supervisor if criminal checks were done, they were vague.
Tips
When choosing an Assisted living facility for a loved one or anyone, cost is one of the major concerns. Hopefully, the person has Long Term Care Insurance to help with costs. If not it usually falls on the family. Check with local Better business and the medical association for any problems. Visit unexpectedly to see what goes on.
