Description of service
My grandmother has lived with us in the past, but my wife and kids don't have a large house, so she has since moved on to an assisted living facility in our town, close by. She has her own mini-apartment (much like an efficiency apartment). The facility has a no-pets and no-smoking policy. There is a large yard and park nearby. The area is very nice with no crime, and only a few blocks from the elementary school where my children go to school (so they go to her "house" after school, until my wife and I are done with work/classes).
Review of Service
Though the financial aspect is a burden, this is actually a discounted rate based on our income and hers. Normally, $750 per month for the space she has would be high for our area, but the extra dollars go for having the nurses on hand. This gives us piece of mind. I probably wouldn't be able to sleep at night if she were in her own home. Now, she has someone to help her if needed and I know if she needs medical care she will have it nearby.
Tips
Get on the waiting list early, because there is bound to be one. We had to wait well over a year until she was given a place.
