Description of service
The service was to put my ill Grandmother into an assisted living facility. I took charge of this as all of the siblings (including my mother) lived far away, and I was local in New Jersey. The rate was $4,800 per month, and she is still there today (has been there 3 months now). Insurance covers this partially, aprox. 50%. Calculating out what the bottom line price is after insurance coverage is about $2,400 per month. The service include 24 hour care, food service, medical service, etc.
Review of Service
I have nothing but good things to say about my Grandmother's assisted living experience this far. It is a new thing for me to get involved in but so far it as heen going very well. Just sad to see my Grandmother not able to make it on her own anymore : (
They do take good care of her though, so that makes it easier!
Tips
The best tip I have is to be careful with insurance paperwork and make sure you get insurance coverage that you are entitled to. I hear a lot of people don't get their full coverage and end up paying too much out of pocket. Also, shop around for the best facility in terms of care. Walk through some and see how the people are being treated. You are talking about a loved one, so you don't want them treated like a number. Can be a very stressful process but hang in there!
