Description of service
The company that I use for grocery delivery has everything automated online. One can go to the website, browse through grocery products, add them to the cart, schedule a delivery time, and then check out using a credit card. It is usually possible to schedule a delivery either the next day or day after. Delivery is available seven days a week at virtually any time. They usually give you a two hour window within which they will deliver the groceries. The driver brings the bagged groceries into your home or apartment.
Review of Service
From my experience, the delivery always happens within the window of time you select. For the most part, the drivers are friendly. Given the relatively low cost of delivery, it often makes more sense than either taking the train to the grocery store or paying for a car and/or gas to get there. The biggest detriment to this service, however, is that someone else (someone who works for the company) selects your groceries for you. The company virtually always delivers meats that are within two days of the "sell by" date. This is OK if you plan on freezing everything. However, I think this is a bit of a scam. They pawn off old meats on their customers, meats that no one would choose themselves. I have called them several times to complain about this and the same issue persists. Nonetheless, the convenience of the service leads me to use them on about a monthly basis.
Tips
Look around for coupons by searching online. This and other companies often have free or discounted delivery promotions. Also, this company gives a discount of about ten dollars to first time customers. Lastly, check your invoice to make sure everything is priced correctly. I have had things charged to me at incorrect prices. You can call an 800 number to get this squared away.
