Description of service
The $190 was for my brakes. They were making a horrible grinding noise every time I used them and sometimes acted like something was "hanging" when I let off the brakes. The rotors were turned as well.
Review of Service
While I know I had to have this service performed, I also know that if I were able to take the rotors off myself and take them to a place that "turns" them, I could have gotten this done cheaper. In essence, I was paying a middle man to take my rotors to another place and get that done.
Tips
Find out ahead of time how long you will be without your vehicle. Independent mechanics often overbook, which means that while they'll accept your vehicle for work, they may not actually be able to start on it that day. Sometimes they can start on it the day you leave it, but it may be towards the end of the day. In the case of a third party being involved (such as the turning of the rotors), that often means that the third party can't get their end done by the end of the day. The result is that you are without your vehicle for at least 1 1/2 days, sometimes 2 days.
