Description of service
The check brakes light was on in my car. I don't have any experience in car repair, so I told the service that something was wrong with the brakes.
For my brakes something had broken on the back set of brakes and had leaked on the brake pads. This repair ran about $240. They let me know the front brake pads had about 30% of their life left and let me know what they would sound like when they needed to be replaced.

I really got satisfied by the service I receive. I've been using this mechanic for about 4 years now. I've always felt like they've told me the truth about the service they were providing. They've offered alternatives to completing the service if money was an issue. They did explain what they were doing with the brakes and called me with the price before doing any work.
Tips
Find out ahead of time how long you will be without your vehicle. Independent mechanics often overbook, which means that while they'll accept your vehicle for work, they may not actually be able to start on it that day. Sometimes they can start on it the day you leave it, but it may be towards the end of the day.
