Description of service
My brake sensor went out completely in my car. I had my car towed to the Mercury dealership where I had recently purchased my vehicle. They hooked my car up to a diagnostic machine first to determine definitevely that it was a brake sensor. They they just put it up on a lift and change the broken sensor. This is not a major service to have done.
Review of Service
The first time I went in for this service I was satisfied with the work done and the service I received. I had to go back within 3 months for yet another brake sensor. Again all the same charges were applied. I was very unhappy that this had happened twice within 3 months. i was told I only had a 30 day warranty on that product and service, no discount was offered. In addition I was made to pay $80 for a second diagnostic test. It was apparent that the brake sensor had broke as I was unable to get my car out of the parking gear(major sign of brake sensor damage). I will not use that dealership in the future.
Tips
Price check around first. Also if you are familiar with the "symptoms" of a brake sensor breaking then you will know that a diagnostic test (which is $80 alone) is not needed and find a mechanic who does not require one to be run.
