Description of service
I love my Mercuries. I have two of them one with me and other with my son. It is a beautiful car with plenty of power. Unfortunately it requires a lot of maintenance as well as repairs. He complained that his car was leaking oil. He also noticed a whining noise. We took the car to a local auto repair shop that we have used before. We found out that the radiator , radiator cap, coolant tank, 2 valve cover gasket, valve cover bushing, and axle bearing all needed to be replaced. The labor for replacing the radiator , radiator reserve tank, valve cover gaskets and axle bearing was $1297 . The parts plus shipping them overnight equaled $943. Adding labor, parts, shop fees and tax totaled $2500.
Review of Service
We were very pleased with the service we received. The price is comparable to other shops in the area. We expect service for a Mercury to be more expensive than the average car. The mechanics are very knowledgeable and we know that the car will be repaired with no problems afterwards. Also, the repair shop always has the car ready very quickly.
Tips
Do change the oil when it's time it saves a lot of money. Any maintenance you can perform on your car will obviously save you a substantial amount of money compared to an automotive shop repair afterward. Also call around for pricing. And do ask for the cheaper solutions to expensive replacements.
