The rate of $108 per month is the total amount that we pay for the standard cable package in three rooms with three digital packages for a better picture, plus two premium movie channel packages, and a digital video recorder in the main family room.
Review of Service
Our location limits us to only one choice for cable services and if we could change to another company, we probably would. The service is usually good, but it is sometimes unreliable and storm seem to cause us to lose our signal on a fairly regular basis. We have the digital packages because the picture quality for the standard cable reception is just not that good and we want to be able to use our nice televisions to watch shows that are crisp and clear on the screen. The price for basic service is comparable to satellite, but the little additional charges really add up to a big monthly bill. The movie channels cost an extra $21 per month and the digital video recorder is $10 more. The company is broadcasting more channels each month in HD, but it is still expensive.
Tips
There really isn't much you can do regarding cable services because you may only have one choice depending where you live. Just be sure to complain whenever there is some problem or an outage and ask to have your bill adjusted for the inconvenience. It may only be a few dollars but at least you aren't paying for down time. Also upgrade to the HD and digital boxes if you can afford it; the picture makes it more worthwhile to watch on expensive flat-screen TVs.
