the Cost of Carpet Cleaning

I had the carpet in two rooms professionally cleaned. One room was very small and had a bed and dresser that couldn't be moved without some difficulty. The other room had all the furniture moved out of it and was a small-to-normal sized living room.

I did the furniture moving, as the carpet cleaning service charged extra for that. The guy cleaned the carpets and gave me little things to put under the legs of furniture, but I had to move the furniture back.

The carpet cleaning was great. I have a dog, so he gets things dirty, and I don't think the carpet had been professionally cleaned since... well, maybe ever. It was amazing what a difference it made.

It was a pain to move all the furniture myself, especially since I did this when my housemate was out of town. The carpet cleaning guy did have pity on me and helped me move the big couch without charging me, which was nice.

The professional carpet cleaning wasn't that much better than what you get by renting a carpet steamer at the supermarket, so I'd probably just do that in the future, because even if I'm feeling lazy, I still have to move all the furniture!

Get someone to help you with the furniture moving! Also, make sure that the service will charge less if you have a small room than a big one. Think about the fact that for less than half as much, you could rent a carpet steamer and do it yourself if you're willing.
