Before moving into a condo, the heavily cigarette-smoke filled carpet needed to be cleaned. There was no furniture to be moved. I used a local family business. I met with them initially for an estimate.(I was also having them clean the air ducts.) The were very prompt and professional. The owner brought out a scrapbook with pictures that described their entire cleaning method. They were able to pull up in the driveway right outside my patio door. There were 2 gentlemen, the owner and his son who worked very efficiently together. They had to do a lot of prep work because I dobut the carpet had been cleaned in years. There was a lot of discoloration around the baseboards and although they did their best, there were a few areas that they couldn't get the stains out of. But the carpet looked and smelled remarkably clean when they were done. They also cleaned a braided rug. The owner advised me that I was risking having the rug fall apart because of the nature of the rug's construction but it had pet odors that I wanted to try and remove. They cleaned it and then moved it onto the kitchen floor so it could dry. The owner was correct as later the rug began to split apart. I was very satisfied with the service. 95% of the cigarette odor was gone. They left me a bottle of spot remover which worked like magic.

Definitely have the cleaning service view the area they are cleaning beforehand. Make a note of any problem areas and express your concerns
