Description of service
This was a comprehensive 8 week program to learn nutritional specifications for a person with diabetes.
Review of Service
This was an excellent program. It started with a one hour private consultation with a nurse. All of my vitals were taken as well as blood work. I answered a very long questionaire about my health and nutrition goals. I was given a vitamin recommendation and work out routine. Then on to 6 classes over the span of 6 weeks. Each was an hour and was taught in a group setting. However, it was very informal and we were all able to interact a lot with the nutritionist. Each week was a different topic, such as fiber, fat, protein, etc. We were told how important each different aspect was and given specific, personal guidelines based on our health and goals. We were given recipes and a new 'challenge' every week - like to make sure to get 35 grams of fiber a day for a week. The last appointment was another one on one appointment where we were able to talk about how the program had worked out and get any questions answered me might have left.
Tips
I got this recommendation from my doctor, which is a great place to start when deciding on a program like this. My health insurance did cover a large portion of the cost so be sure to look into that.
