Description of service

The price listed above ($70) included all over hair color only. The cut and style were charged separately and I tipped 20% on all services as I was pleased with the results. The hair coloring was performed by a Level II stylist at a salon where three stylist levels are available. Likewise, my hair color was changed from lighter to darker.

Upon entering the salon, my stylist asked me what kind of results I would like to achieve. After listening to my explanation, he recommended several colors and showed me hair swatches to matching the results I was looking for. After choosing a final color, he mixed the color and then painted it on my hair with a brush then I waited 20 minutes for the color to process. When the color was finished processing, my stylist thoroughly shampooed the color out, cut, and styled my hair.

Review of Service

While visiting a stylist for all over color is much more expensive than at-home coloring, I am really satisfied with the depth of color provided. In addition, I believe that the color lasts longer and does not fade as quickly as at-home hair coloring. Finally, I am very pleased that my hair appears healthier as I believe that the salon color is not as damaging to my hair as at-home hair coloring products.

Overall I am very pleased with the service. I received personal consultation which resulted in hair color quality that I cannot achieve at home. I do not believe that I would pay $70 every 6 weeks for all over color however, from this point forward, I can have my roots touched-up which is a more inexpensive service.

Tips

I recommend having your stylist pre-select some colors for you. Stylists know what is achievable based on your current hair color. Likewise, they have training to help you pick a tone that is flattering to your skin and lifestyle. Also, once a desirable all-over color is achieved, you can just have your roots touched-up every 4 - 6 weeks. This is a faster, cheaper process which will also preserve the health of your hair.
