Description of service
I took my seven year old daughter in to have her four molars sealed. She basically came in and the dentist put some sealant on the tooth, zapped it with her little laser gun thing for about twenty seconds on each tooth and was done with all four within 5 minutes.
The dentist told me this sealant of the molars is pretty mandatory because the molars have deep thin grooves, so it's easier to get food in there and cause a cavity.
It was $46 a tooth. They don't break down this service with material charges or gratitude. It's just a flat charge.
Review of Service
I thought the service was pretty good. It was very fast and painless for my daughter. I don't have insurance so I paid attention to the cost of it a little bit more. I thought the price was very high for the amount of time it took. I think it's a bit of a rip off, but if it will prevent future cavities, I guess it's worth it for the long term.
I got a 5% discount for paying cash right then, so that was kind of nice. I saved $9.20.
Tips
I would advice people to have their children's molars sealed. In the long run it is worth it because these sealants last forever. You're less likely to have a cavity back there. I probably would advise people to shop around for prices to see if another dentist has any specials.
